【摘要】:CorrosionResistance,General8212;Thisfunctionalcoatingisusedtoprovidecorrosionresistance.Theperformanceofthiscoatingdependslargelyonitsthicknessandthekindofenvironmenttowhichitisexposed.Publishedresultsofenvironmentalcorrosionstudieshavedemonstratedthatthecoatingprovidescorrosionresistancegreaterthanequivalentthicknessesofzinccoatingsinindustrialenvironmentsandgreatercorrosionresistancethanequivalentthicknessesofcadmiumcoatingsinmarineenvironments.GalvanicCorrosionResistance8212;Thegalvaniccouplethatresultsinthecorrosionofsteelandaluminumpartsincontactwitheachotherincorrosiveenvironmentscanalsobeminimizedbyplatingthesteelpartswiththismechanicallydepositedcoating.HydrogenEmbrittlement,Absenceof8212;Themechanicalcoatingprocessdoesnotproduceanypermanenthydrogenembrittlementinproductsmadefromhigh-strengthsteels,forexample,fastenersorlockwashers.1.1General8212;Thisspecificationcoverstherequirementsforacoatingthatisamixtureofcadmiumandzincdepositedonmetallicproductsbymechanicaldeposition.Thecoatingisprovidedinfourthicknessclasses(seeTable1)andseveralfinishtypes(seeTable2).1.2Toxicity8212;Warning:Cadmiumistoxic;thereforethesecoatingsshouldnotbeusedonarticlesthatwillcontactfoodorbeverages,orfordentalandotherequipmentthatmaybeinsertedintothemouth.Also,thecoatingsshouldnotbeusedonarticlesthatwillbeheatedtohightemperatures,becausecadmiumwillformtoxicfumes.Similarly,ifcoatedarticlesarewelded,soldered,orotherwiseheatedduringfabrication,adequateventilationshouldbeprovidedtoexhausttoxicfumes.1.3SimilarDocuments8212;OtherkindsofmechanicallydepositedcoatingsarecoveredbySpecificationsB635,B695,andB696.1.4Thefollowingprecautionarycaveatpertainsonlytothetestmethodportion,Section9,ofthisspecification.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
