【摘要】:Thisguideattemptstoprovideinformationtoassistbuildingownersandmanagerswithlimitedknowledgeofstoneconstructiontorecognizebasicproblemswithperformanceoffacades,andtokeepthemingoodconditionthroughperiodicinspectionsandmaintenance.Increasedawarenessofthebehaviorofstonemasonryfacadesandassociatedmaterialscanreducemaintenanceandreplacementcostsbyaddressingproblemsanddeteriorationearly.Theobjectiveofallmaintenanceshouldbetolimitdeteriorationthroughearlyintervention.Whenitappearsdamagetostonesupportelementshasoccurred,professionalsshouldbeconsultedtoevaluatethesupportconditions,aswellasrecommendmethodstorestorethebuilding''sintegrityandpreservepublicsafety.1.1Thisguideoutlineshowtovisuallyassessexteriorstonemasonrywallsandfacadestodeterminetheirgeneralcondition.Examiningkeyfeaturesoftheconstructioncanhelpidentifyanddiagnoseproblemswhichrequirerepairsorcorrectiveaction.Suchanexaminationcanexposeconditionswhichmaybeaddressedwithmaintenanceandminorrepairs,ormayrequireexpertassistance.Thisguideisnotintendedtobeusedforbuildingsrequiringmajorexteriorrehabilitationorstructuralrepairs.1.1.1Thisguideappliestowallsofsolidstoneordimensionstoneusedasacladding.Stonecladdingistypicallyconnectedtoabackupmaterialwithavarietyofanchoringmethods,includingtraditionalhand-setmasonryanchorssuchasstraps,dowels,cramps,hook-and-eyes,dove-tails,wireties,andthelike.Jointsbetweenstonesinthesetypesofbuildingsareusuallyfilledwithmortarorsealant.Sealant-filledjointsareusuallydesignedtoaccommodatestructuralandthermalmovements.1.2Thisguidespecificallyexcludesdimensionstoneusedininteriorbuildingsurfaces,flooringorpaving,slatedimensionstoneusedasroofing.Thoughtheysharesomesimilarassessmentandmaintenanceconcerns,thinstone(lessthan2inchesnominalthickness)exteriorcladding,andstonecladdingattachedtometalflamesarealsoexcludedduetotheiruniquedesigncharacteristicsandperformancerequirements.Althoughproceduresandcautionslistedhereinmayapplytowallsandfacadescontainingsemi-dimension,orpartiallysized,stoneintheformofsplit-face,orrubbleandtostone-facadeconcretepanels,theguideisnotspecificallydirectedtosuchstoneuse.Itdoesnotaddressremovalofsmall-areastains.1.3Thisguideoffersanorganizedcollectionofinformationoraseriesofoptionsanddoesnotrecommendaspecificcourseofaction.Thisdocumentcannotreplaceeducationorexperienceandshouldbeusedinconjunctionwithprofessionaljudgment.Notallaspectsofthisguidemaybeapplicableinallcircumstances.ThisASTMstandardisnotintendedtorepresentorreplacethestandardofcarebywhichtheadequacyofagivenprofessionalservicemustbejudged,norshouldthisdocumentbeappliedwithoutconsiderationofaprojectx2019;smanyuniqueaspects.Thewordx201C;Standardx201D;inthetitleofthisdocumentmeansonlythatthedocumenthasbeenapprovedthroughtheASTMconsensusprocess.1.4Thevaluesstatedineitherinch-poundunitsorSIunitsaretoberegardedseparatelyasstandard.Thevaluesstatedineachsystemmaynotbeexactequivalents;therefore,eachsystemshallbeusedindependentlyoftheother.Combiningvaluesfromthetwosystemsmayresultinnon-conformancewiththestandard.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafet......
